Episode 40

404 Day

Published on: 18th March, 2025

This week on Clover Club, Erika welcomes the one and only Ricky Raw—founder of 404 Day, Atlanta’s very own holiday. Erika and Ricky dive into the evolution of Atlanta’s culture, swap stories about their favorite Atlanta rappers, and reveal Ricky’s unexpected morning routine (hint: it involves a literal fistful of spinach). They also get real about the highs and chaos of being creatives with ADHD. It’s an ATL love letter meets life chat you won’t want to miss.

Hello and welcome to Clover

Club, a podcast about curious

2

:

conversations and stories intended

to make you laugh and learn.

3

:

I'm your host, Erica, and today I

am so excited to be joined by Ricky

4

:

Raw founder of 4 0 4 Day Ricky.

5

:

What's up?

6

:

Hello?

7

:

Hello.

8

:

Ricky's getting his phone on silent.

9

:

Yes, I am, and I, of course,

I can't find it right now.

10

:

Are you on an Android?

11

:

No, no.

12

:

I just updated and so I'm a,

and I'm also, I just feel like

13

:

I'm on the spot to get it done.

14

:

You're, you're literally on the spot.

15

:

The whole world is listening to this

Hello World personal hotspot disability.

16

:

Do not disturb just on is all I want.

17

:

I'm gonna just throw it.

18

:

How about that?

19

:

Worst case scenario, I

edit out a vibration.

20

:

It's no big deal.

21

:

You don't have to disturb on.

22

:

We did it.

23

:

Cool.

24

:

Look at that.

25

:

Off to a great start off to a great start.

26

:

Okay, so Ricky, we have a mutual friend

who put us in touch about this episode

27

:

and I have to admit, I have heard of

4 0 4 day, like for several years,

28

:

but I've never attended a 4 0 4 day.

29

:

So why don't we start by, if

you don't mind sharing with

30

:

everybody, like what is 4 0 4 day.

31

:

Okay, so 4 0 4 day, , is

Atlanta's own holiday.

32

:

Started in 2012 at the Claremont Lounge.

33

:

Um, essentially the intention is

to combine as many Atlanta forces,

34

:

creatives, business owners, artists,

, chefs, restaurants, , food, art,

35

:

all of these things into one day.

36

:

And there's so much.

37

:

To go over that.

38

:

You can't even really fit it

in a day, but we do our best.

39

:

Okay.

40

:

And so is it always on April 4th?

41

:

Yes, for, I think this'll

be the 14th year in a row.

42

:

Okay.

43

:

That's so awesome.

44

:

Thank you.

45

:

Um, it's in Piedmont Park.

46

:

Yes.

47

:

So this is like a a day festival?

48

:

Yes.

49

:

We have music, we have food, we

have hanging out in the park.

50

:

Yes.

51

:

Okay.

52

:

I feel like that would lend itself to some

crazy things happening over the years.

53

:

Yes.

54

:

Well, we've, we've been in the park

for th this will be our third year.

55

:

Okay.

56

:

And we intentionally go from

12 noon to 9:00 PM So a.

57

:

About the time that everyone is,

, having their third or fourth drink.

58

:

We're like, Hey, go to the

after party or go home.

59

:

Okay.

60

:

We wrap up at a reasonable

hour to keep it, uh, you know,

61

:

we wanna be family friendly.

62

:

We want everyone to feel safe.

63

:

, we mostly play house music at the

day, party in the park, , just to

64

:

keep the vibes very positive and it

just feels like everyone is there.

65

:

It feels, , very united in the park.

66

:

And then.

67

:

We do have a lot of, , evening

events and we're expanding into

68

:

4 0 4 week to be, ooh, even more

inclusive and have more space to fill.

69

:

Okay.

70

:

That's awesome.

71

:

Are there any crazy stories

or like lore of 4 0 4 day that

72

:

you're allowed to share with us?

73

:

Um, I would say one of the

funniest, craziest stories

74

:

was , so we started in 2012.

75

:

It was a Wednesday.

76

:

And then the next year was

a Thursday and the next year

77

:

was a Friday, and I was like.

78

:

I know what I wanna do.

79

:

I wanna throw this huge block party.

80

:

I want to book Killer Mike to headline.

81

:

And he had just, I think that's about when

Run the Jewels had just started and Yeah.

82

:

And he was, he was already, I mean, he

had been featured on Outkast albums, so

83

:

I mean, he, he wasn't new or anything,

but he was getting some of his newer

84

:

attraction and, , reached out to

his team and , we worked out a deal.

85

:

They, they asked for.

86

:

More money than I'd heard

he'd played for recently.

87

:

And, and I was like, I

was like, that's fine.

88

:

And then they wanted most of it up

front and I was like, that's fine.

89

:

And I met , his manager and I paid

him the deposit, smiling ear to ear.

90

:

But I paid him in like down

to fives and tens and ones.

91

:

'cause it was every dollar I had

at the time, like, and I met him

92

:

and, and you know, I'm paying

him and I'm smiling ear to ear.

93

:

And then, I didn't do any

contracts or anything.

94

:

All I said was, I want a video drop.

95

:

I just want, you know, Mike to

say, Hey, I'll see you guys at 4

96

:

0 4 day, we got the video drop.

97

:

And then I, I feel like, and I don't

know this, , but I feel like they

98

:

ended up saying, Hey, we're, we're

gonna pull back from this show.

99

:

Maybe because, you know, I'm a guy who

paid him in $1 bills, like, And, and they

100

:

may have been a, you know, questioning,

Hey, is this really good for the

101

:

brand we're really building right now?

102

:

And, and they told me they had

another engagement out of town

103

:

and, and that it was a conflict.

104

:

, I didn't go too far outta my way to

verify it, , to speak on their behalf.

105

:

I had no contract, but I did meet the

manager in Lennox Mall and he paid

106

:

me back my deposit and $100 bills.

107

:

Um, so they were really cool about it.

108

:

I mean, as a fan I was bummed.

109

:

, but.

110

:

You know, respectfully

gave all the money back.

111

:

We booked, , bone Crusher and Sean Paul

of the Youngbloods still had Ruby Ve and

112

:

the Soul Phonics, , which was, you know,

huge and that, that really represented,

113

:

the, you know, we have this big wrapper

that's kind of the center of Atlanta,

114

:

what people think of Killer Mike Outcast.

115

:

Yeah.

116

:

And then we had Ruby Vel and

the Soul Phonics a completely

117

:

contrasting vibe, but on 4 0 4 day.

118

:

They fit together.

119

:

And , you know, it was just different

aspects of Atlanta and we had

120

:

multiple venues and all kinds of

DJs, and I think there were like

121

:

50 acts on that lineup that year.

122

:

, that's awesome.

123

:

So that, was a little bit

of a roller coaster and yeah.

124

:

, I still would love to chat with

Killer Mike and, and have him be.

125

:

I'm super involved with it.

126

:

And here, you know, what, what

would he have done with it?

127

:

Because the truth is, if he, if

we would've done that show and he

128

:

would've been satisfied, I was gonna

offer him to be a partner in it.

129

:

But, you know, things happen

for a reason and, and that

130

:

didn't sure happen that year.

131

:

And maybe one day we'll,

uh, get to connect.

132

:

Yeah.

133

:

Well, killer Mike, if you're

listening, , you need to hit a Ricky.

134

:

I I would love for you to, yeah, I

wouldn't say you need to, you seem busy.

135

:

I'm gonna say he needs to congrats on

all of your recent even more success.

136

:

The, the Grammys and everything.

137

:

We're, we're all behind you.

138

:

Yes.

139

:

, okay.

140

:

Ricky, who's your favorite Atlanta rapper?

141

:

Same one.

142

:

Killer Mike.

143

:

I, I just think, oh, we're going hard.

144

:

Well, and I think, do you hear this, Mike?

145

:

Well, and I think that it

was, , like the run the jewels.

146

:

So, so my group, mighty Haiku, we,

and this is actually the story that

147

:

started 4 0 4 day in 8 0 8 Fest.

148

:

Yes.

149

:

This is what I wanna hear.

150

:

So we had this song called the

8 0 8 Track, but we, we were

151

:

kind of like, I would sample

all this like psychedelic rock.

152

:

And make beats out of that.

153

:

Cool.

154

:

In like 2010, and we had a

track called the 8 0 8 track.

155

:

That was kind of the one outstanding

song , on the record that, , the

156

:

album was called To the Moon.

157

:

And this one song didn't

have really any samples.

158

:

I just made it all out of 8 0 8 samples.

159

:

It was kind of meant to be a

joke, making fun of pop music.

160

:

Like all you Need is an 8 0 8 kick drum.

161

:

An 8 0 8 hat.

162

:

8 0 8 snare drum.

163

:

8 0 8 clap.

164

:

An 8 0 8 this, and an 8 0 8.

165

:

That an 8 0 8 boom.

166

:

And a 8 0 8 bap.

167

:

And then the, the first verse

was, this is 4 0 4 over 8 0 8.

168

:

And then my girlfriend at the time, her

mother was a, she's kind of a hippie

169

:

woman, and she was like pointing out

like moon cycles and stuff to me.

170

:

Yeah.

171

:

And she said, do you realize

that every year, the date.

172

:

4 0 4 and 8 0 8 land on

the same day of the week.

173

:

So if 4 0 4 is on a Wednesday,

8 0 8 will be on a Wednesday.

174

:

Oh, cool.

175

:

And they just, they're a

perfect amount of weeks apart.

176

:

And me, , I'm gonna age myself, but at

that time I was about 30 years old and,

177

:

uh, was thinking, what am I gonna do?

178

:

Past rap, what can I do

with this rap momentum?

179

:

And I was like, oh, I'll

start throwing these events.

180

:

4 0 4 day and 8 0 8 fest.

181

:

So anyway, fast forward

to answer your question.

182

:

Mm-hmm.

183

:

This all started with my.

184

:

Rap group that, , politically active

and into sampling these, uh, psychedelic

185

:

rock kind of songs, which also, like,

there are other groups, , like The

186

:

Difference Machine who really owned

that lane and , shouts out to them.

187

:

They played another year, , for 4 0 4.

188

:

They actually, I think they played

that year as well with Killer Mike,

189

:

but Full Circle, when I heard Run the

Jewels with Killer Mike rapping over

190

:

those kinds of beats, I was like.

191

:

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.

192

:

Like, like it's, it's such a cool,

you know, mix of styles and, uh, and,

193

:

and Mike always uses his platform

to, to say something, , positive

194

:

and move the culture in a direction.

195

:

And I just, I think it's important

to realize when you have a platform,

196

:

you need to use it with a purpose,

, if you wanna stick around and be

197

:

more than a flash in the pant.

198

:

I totally agree.

199

:

What's your top message right now?,

200

:

We need to take care of

each other as a people.

201

:

I mean, we're not getting healthcare

from anywhere else, so we need to learn

202

:

to take care of each other and, , you

know, use whatever resources we have to

203

:

benefit our network and, and just learn

how to come together and, and survive.

204

:

You know, in a form of togetherness.

205

:

'cause I feel like there's just always

this effort to break us, you know,

206

:

divide and conquer and it seems to be

coming, working, working like a charm.

207

:

Yeah, it's working like a charm

and it seems to be coming from

208

:

the top of the chain these days.

209

:

Yeah.

210

:

So I think I.

211

:

You know, my message is realize

what we have in common and we've

212

:

gotta be there for one another.

213

:

Yeah.

214

:

That's very similar to a

conversation I've been having with

215

:

a lot of people lately, which is,

I think right now it's not right

216

:

versus left, it's up versus down.

217

:

Mm.

218

:

And a lot of us are down and, , we

need to be focused on hyper-local

219

:

communities and, there's so much more

that we have in common than we do.

220

:

Absolutely.

221

:

You know?

222

:

Absolutely.

223

:

And, and 4 0 4 day has been about

supporting local business, local artists,

224

:

you know, local vendors, just kind of, , a

localize it theme, which I, you know, I

225

:

hope everybody, , in the world kind of

realizes that, you know, if you, the more

226

:

we can kind of do right here in Atlanta.

227

:

You know that that's

just good for everyone.

228

:

Yeah, I totally agree.

229

:

Especially right now, and I don't wanna

make this a political episode, but there's

230

:

a lot of boycotts that are happening right

now of really big businesses, and I think

231

:

a lot of people, myself included, haven't

realized as you shift your reliance on.

232

:

Amazon and Target and

like big corporations.

233

:

, if you choose to stop patronizing those

businesses, it's like, well, oh shit,

234

:

where do I go to buy a local whisk?

235

:

Like, you know, so many

small businesses are.

236

:

Struggling right now.

237

:

Mm-hmm.

238

:

Um, and I think now is a great

time to focus on highlighting

239

:

local businesses, local artists,

local musicians, local restaurants.

240

:

I mean, I feel like this could

be your best 4 0 4 day yet.

241

:

It's, it's of the times.

242

:

Thank you.

243

:

Thank you.

244

:

We appreciate that.

245

:

And I, you know, I don't, I

don't break my head over it,

246

:

but anything I can buy locally.

247

:

Absolutely.

248

:

You know, I, I realize, you

know, my dollar is my vote.

249

:

And I encourage everyone to realize,

you know, where, where you put your

250

:

money is what you're supporting.

251

:

And, you know, don't, don't

drive yourself crazy over it.

252

:

I've seen people go a little too overboard

trying to never spend a dollar with,

253

:

you know, it, it's, it's a full-time

job to do that, , comprehensively,

254

:

but at least be conscious of it and

try to support those close to you.

255

:

Yeah, I agree.

256

:

, it's like progress over perfection.

257

:

You don't have to be perfect in

every dollar you spend, but I think

258

:

if everybody's just a little bit

more mindful of like, yeah, I could

259

:

Amazon prime this, but also does that

shop down the street that I haven't

260

:

been in in four years sell this?

261

:

, so just being mindful of that, are

there any small businesses that you

262

:

just cannot live without in Atlanta?

263

:

Um.

264

:

Wow.

265

:

What a good question.

266

:

Well, for me, all of the venues, I'm, I'm

a performer and a, and a promoter, so, you

267

:

know, right now I work for Crazy Atlanta.

268

:

, I work for Lunchbox, , at

a TL at Underground.

269

:

These are businesses that I literally

cannot live without because I,

270

:

I work for them and with them.

271

:

There's, there's so many, you know,

shouts out to the, the Piedmont Park

272

:

Conservancy for, for getting behind

us on 4 0 4 day premier events.

273

:

I, I might have to come back with

a, with a list, but I, I just want

274

:

to show gratefulness to everyone

who supported me in 4 0 4 day.

275

:

Honestly, all of the, the

people, the individuals are.

276

:

The most important part, people

who attend events, you know,

277

:

patronize the, the vendor table,

the, the bar, the restaurant.

278

:

That is, I, I couldn't

survive without all of them.

279

:

So, shouts out.

280

:

Yeah.

281

:

Literally all the a t aliens.

282

:

Thank y'all.

283

:

Yes.

284

:

, okay.

285

:

How long have you lived in Atlanta?

286

:

I was born in Clayton County.

287

:

. So in my mind forever, okay.

288

:

Some people will draw a differentiation

there, but I'm like, you know,

289

:

I was born right by the airport.

290

:

I've lived everywhere as far

north as like Sandy Springs.

291

:

Okay.

292

:

, lived in Marietta for a little while.

293

:

I live in Ellenwood now in the bottom

of DeKalb County, so all over Atlanta.

294

:

No, I'm not in a zone.

295

:

I hope y'all don't, uh,

take me to court for that.

296

:

I, I do my best.

297

:

I work in downtown and I try to

support as many of you as I can.

298

:

We'll let it slide, but the important part

is you've always been Atlanta adjacent.

299

:

Amen.

300

:

At the very least.

301

:

, I'm from the northern suburbs, but I've

lived here my whole life and I, you see

302

:

a lot of things change over decades.

303

:

Are there any businesses.

304

:

Or companies that have left Atlanta that

you're like, man, it hasn't been the same

305

:

since Cafe Tutu, tango left Buckhead.

306

:

Oh, wow.

307

:

Um, I remember that.

308

:

Uh, oh, wait, no, I'm thinking Cafe

two 90, but, uh, that one, yeah.

309

:

Was was that a Roswell Road?

310

:

Yeah.

311

:

Yeah.

312

:

It was like a jazz club.

313

:

Or maybe it still is.

314

:

Um, I really, I don't

have an answer to that.

315

:

I, I can't think of a.

316

:

You know, I miss, there's venues

that, that, that have gone

317

:

outta business that I miss.

318

:

I Miss.

319

:

Noni is one of the very first Oh yeah.

320

:

Places to give me an opportunity

to do an outdoor event on 4

321

:

0 4 Day shouts out to Matt.

322

:

I.

323

:

Over there for believing in

me a long, long time ago.

324

:

Did he move to Amsterdam

or am I making that up?

325

:

No.

326

:

Yeah.

327

:

So I guess, I guess that qualifies.

328

:

Yes.

329

:

Yes.

330

:

He, as far as I know, last I heard,

he is in Amsterdam with his Okay.

331

:

With his adorable dog too.

332

:

That's awesome.

333

:

Yeah.

334

:

That's my dream.

335

:

You'll get there.

336

:

Oh, I've been there.

337

:

, but he opened up like a Mexican

restaurant in, or like a Cuban

338

:

restaurant in Amsterdam, I think.

339

:

Right.

340

:

I don't know the details,

but I hope they have queso.

341

:

Oh, I hope so too.

342

:

'cause that's hard to find in the

Netherlands for obvious reasons.

343

:

, okay.

344

:

So we miss Noni anywhere else?

345

:

Department store was a

lot of fun in it's heyday.

346

:

, the music room where the, which was

the first place to ever give me like a

347

:

steady job and, and I worked there for.

348

:

, four or five years.

349

:

The Graveyard Tavern helped

me, helped me get my house.

350

:

I appreciate y'all shouts out, Dustin.

351

:

, the basement is recently closed.

352

:

, so missed, missed those,

those nights there.

353

:

The list probably goes

on the further back.

354

:

I go Lenny's.

355

:

Lenny's.

356

:

Oh yeah.

357

:

Was was my spot.

358

:

I, the old Apache Cafe is where I.

359

:

I basically learned how to plug

in with the Atlanta community.

360

:

I was a freestyle battle

rapper, , believe it or not.

361

:

And then Dres, the beatnik, uh, shouts

out, kind of gave me lots of great

362

:

guidance on how to package myself, both

as a rapper and then as a promoter.

363

:

And, , that was really the

spot where I learned community.

364

:

But luckily, , Apache Cafe has their

new location and they're still doing

365

:

their thing of cultivating artists

and, you know, shouts out to Ahan

366

:

Apache Cafe is a huge influence for me.

367

:

That's awesome.

368

:

, do you have any tips

for aspiring grafters?

369

:

Like what's the best piece of

advice you got that took you from

370

:

like, good to Great, be unique?

371

:

You know, I think we, we spend a lot

of time, I mean, tell your own story.

372

:

Like, I like when someone, you know, very

often people want to kind of sound like.

373

:

Something they've heard.

374

:

Yeah.

375

:

Like they're like, this is very popular.

376

:

So I wanna sound like that as

opposed to just really making

377

:

your own story sound cool.

378

:

You know, like, if, if you're,

a nerd from, from, from the

379

:

burbs, just, just rap about that.

380

:

You know what I mean?

381

:

Just lean in.

382

:

I, I thought like, it's, it's funny

that these are my examples, but the

383

:

slum American crew, uh, like Ritz

and Yellow Wolf, like Ritz would

384

:

make it sound cool to be from.

385

:

He'd shout out Gwinnett

County all the time.

386

:

Yeah.

387

:

And like Yellow Wolf would be like,

yeah, I'm from nowhere, Alabama.

388

:

But he made it sound really cool.

389

:

And I feel like a lot of what I hear,

I would call him as impressionist rap.

390

:

Like they're trying to sound like

something they've heard or tell

391

:

a story that feels similar to.

392

:

To what has succeeded in the past.

393

:

And I, I think there is space for that.

394

:

You want to present familiarity, but

focus on what makes you different

395

:

more than what makes you the same.

396

:

Because what makes you different

is your independent, unique value.

397

:

And, and I think people want a

personalized story more than just kind

398

:

of like, I had it rough, I started from

the bottom, I'm making money, you know,

399

:

I get girls or go to the club and all.

400

:

That's cool.

401

:

That's fun.

402

:

Those are fun songs.

403

:

But, you know, focus on what,

what made it your life unique?

404

:

And that's interesting to me.

405

:

Yeah, I agree.

406

:

Do you get anxious

before, like a rap battle?

407

:

Um, it depends.

408

:

Sure, sure.

409

:

I mean, I haven't been in

a battle for a long time.

410

:

We did try to bring the.

411

:

World famous mic club

back to the music room.

412

:

And we did a few episodes, and it's

always in the back of my head that

413

:

I would love to have those going

on because I do think it keeps

414

:

you, keeps me mentally sharp Yeah.

415

:

To be thinking in that, , real time.

416

:

But I haven't, I haven't been

in a battle in, in so long

417

:

that it's, uh, I don't know.

418

:

And, and you gotta just not think about

it and just do it and, and realize

419

:

even if you make a mistake, like.

420

:

It.

421

:

You know, what's the worst case?

422

:

No, nobody's, you know, nobody's

gonna get physically hurt over you

423

:

stuttering a little bit or whatever.

424

:

It's just That's fair.

425

:

Have fun.

426

:

It's basically like cool improv.

427

:

Yeah.

428

:

Okay.

429

:

I like that.

430

:

Um, uh, do you wanna play a game?

431

:

Yes.

432

:

I was hoping you would say that.

433

:

All right.

434

:

We're gonna do an Atlanta quiz.

435

:

Oh man.

436

:

Don't, don't judge me.

437

:

I don't, I don't know every

Outkast lyric that ever existed.

438

:

Don't worry, that's not on my list.

439

:

Okay.

440

:

Hmm.

441

:

All right.

442

:

We're gonna start on a nice neutral one.

443

:

Okay.

444

:

Ricky Atlanta is home to the world's

busiest airport, Hartsfield Jackson.

445

:

How many flights take off

and land there each day?

446

:

On average, a 1000 B

2,500 C 3,600 D 5,200.

447

:

I'm gonna go with B 2,500, wrong 1000.

448

:

How many wrong?

449

:

Wow.

450

:

More than 2500, 3600.

451

:

, and Atlanta sees over a hundred million

passengers a year and has been the

452

:

busiest airport in the world for decades.

453

:

Good job gang.

454

:

Isn't that crazy?

455

:

Yeah.

456

:

That's like so many people.

457

:

Yeah.

458

:

, and somehow it still runs more

smoothly than my least favorite

459

:

airport in the world, which is Paris.

460

:

Hmm.

461

:

Never been.

462

:

Everybody who knows me knows how much

I hate that fucking airport, so any

463

:

chance I get to roast it, I will.

464

:

, okay.

465

:

In the 1996 Summer Olympics,

which iconic Atlanta location

466

:

was bombed in a terrorist attack.

467

:

Do you know the answer before the

choices Underground Atlanta, right?

468

:

No.

469

:

No.

470

:

I, I guess I don't know.

471

:

Okay.

472

:

Option A, Centennial Olympic Park.

473

:

That's it.

474

:

B Georgia Dome.

475

:

Nope.

476

:

C Fox Theater?

477

:

Nope.

478

:

D Underground Atlanta.

479

:

Yep.

480

:

It was, it was Centennial.

481

:

Olympic Park.

482

:

Final answer.

483

:

Yes, that is correct.

484

:

Yes.

485

:

I shouldn't have exclaimed when

you got the wrong one immediately.

486

:

It's okay.

487

:

It's, I like it.

488

:

I like it.

489

:

Let's now turn up the, turn up

the dramatics for television.

490

:

Oh, why not?

491

:

Okay.

492

:

What famous fast food item

was invented in Atlanta?

493

:

A.

494

:

The Chick-fil-A sandwich B,

the McDonald's Big Mac C.

495

:

The Wendy's, frosty D,

the Krispy Kreme donut.

496

:

I.

497

:

I, it has to be the Chick-fil-A

sandwich, is that right?

498

:

Yes.

499

:

Yeah, because the donuts,

I actually looked this up.

500

:

Are, they're like Krispy Kre

from North Carolina, I think.

501

:

Really?

502

:

Originally, I think.

503

:

Oh, they're not, I, I think they're

not based in, even though they're like

504

:

very Atlanta centric, I don't, yeah.

505

:

Think they were actually started here.

506

:

Okay.

507

:

Well that's also a fun fact.

508

:

, yes, it says the Chick-fil-A

sandwich, , Truet Kathy created

509

:

in Atlanta in 1964 at the Dwarf

Grill, which is now the dwarf house.

510

:

Yeah, I love that, that spot.

511

:

It's honestly so cool.

512

:

, okay, which famous a TL rapper

was arrested inside a Waffle

513

:

House after getting into a fight

over his order Before I give you

514

:

options, do you know the answer?

515

:

I don't know this one.

516

:

Okay.

517

:

Which one wasn't solid question?

518

:

, okay, here are your options.

519

:

Gucci Mane, young Thug

Offset or Killer Mic.

520

:

It's not killer Mike.

521

:

I know that I, he's, he's only gonna

get arrested for wrestling with

522

:

the security of the Grammys and for

politically, , charged purposes.

523

:

, Young Thug.

524

:

I'm going to, I'm going to

say it's not Young Thug.

525

:

He's a little more calculated than that.

526

:

Okay.

527

:

, so we're down to Gucci

or who was the other one?

528

:

Offset.

529

:

Offset.

530

:

I'm gonna say it was Gucci.

531

:

That is correct.

532

:

Yeah.

533

:

Alright.

534

:

Yeah.

535

:

Uh, Gucci Mane in 2011 allegedly hit

a guy with a bottle after arguing

536

:

over a woman at a Waffle House.

537

:

Classic, a TL Energy, that was part of

Chachi B T's answer classic a TL Energy.

538

:

Yeah.

539

:

I probably listened to more

Gucci Mane than any other rapper.

540

:

Interesting.

541

:

And I But he's not your favorite rapper?

542

:

Well, he's, he's, it's him and

Mike, you know, and, and I would,

543

:

the reason why Gucci is that.

544

:

You can't listen to

Gucci and feel depressed.

545

:

Like you just, if you are like sad

about an ex or, or you're like down

546

:

on your money, you're late on your

rent and you put on some Gucci,

547

:

I mean, he does not give you one

second of, of softer vulnerable.

548

:

It's all just, I'm the toughest,

richest guy in the room.

549

:

Deal with it.

550

:

And it's, it's healthy

sometimes to feel that way.

551

:

I think this is very interesting,

, psychology into the male brain.

552

:

I, I mean, to me, I.

553

:

We'll say that listening to Gucci Mane

got me through my toughest heartbreaks.

554

:

If that's not, , I don't know.

555

:

That's, that's the truth.

556

:

Gucci Mane is therapy.

557

:

That's what we're hearing.

558

:

Yeah.

559

:

Yeah.

560

:

Yeah.

561

:

If, if, if you have a heartbreak,

hit it over the head with a

562

:

bottle at the Waffle House.

563

:

You'll be good to go.

564

:

Good to go.

565

:

I love it.

566

:

All right.

567

:

I've got a couple more.

568

:

Okay.

569

:

Atlanta Strip Club culture is legendary.

570

:

Which of these rappers once said

Magic City is like the office?

571

:

Because music business happens there.

572

:

A TIB, future C, Drake D two chains.

573

:

It's either TI or two chains.

574

:

Is that, can you gimme that much?

575

:

Am I in the No, no.

576

:

You won't gimme that much.

577

:

No.

578

:

Um, I hope it's not Drake.

579

:

Um, who was the second one?

580

:

Ti Future Drake.

581

:

Two chains.

582

:

I don't feel like future's talking

about business deals that much.

583

:

Like in Vern?

584

:

No, no, I'm just saying he's

just, he's busy being cool.

585

:

I love future.

586

:

I just, I, you know, ti and two

chains are kind of like the guys

587

:

you hear talking about business.

588

:

So I'm gonna go with two chains.

589

:

Eh, and what was it?

590

:

Future.

591

:

Future.

592

:

Oh, wow.

593

:

Good for you.

594

:

Future.

595

:

It says, magic City isn't just about

throwing stacks, it's where rap hits

596

:

are tested before they hit the radio.

597

:

Brilliant, brilliant.

598

:

Okay, I think there's one more in here.

599

:

I'm going out of order.

600

:

Okay.

601

:

I've got one more.

602

:

Cool.

603

:

Atlanta is known as the city in the

forest, but approximately what percentage

604

:

of the city is covered by trees?

605

:

A 38%.

606

:

B, 48%.

607

:

C, 58% or D?

608

:

C 68%.

609

:

I don't know the answer, so I'm

just gonna take a shot at B.

610

:

No.

611

:

All right.

612

:

Which way did it, which way?

613

:

58%.

614

:

Wow.

615

:

Atlanta has one of the highest urban tree

canopies in the US earning its nickname.

616

:

Wow.

617

:

Wow.

618

:

Isn't that cool?

619

:

Yeah.

620

:

I should have guessed higher

with that nickname, right?

621

:

That's true.

622

:

I should have guessed more

than how I don't go with 13%.

623

:

Yeah.

624

:

Yeah.

625

:

I guess with all the new, do you, do you

know how old those stats were by chance?

626

:

Was that, did you look that up?

627

:

Like I looked it up this morning.

628

:

Okay.

629

:

Yeah.

630

:

Yeah, and, and so I assume

hot off the press, right?

631

:

Well, and then you see all the new.

632

:

You know, buildings and

everything, so I'm assuming it's

633

:

getting less, but that's great.

634

:

Oh, I'm sure.

635

:

And after the next four years, it's

gonna be right then I'll be right.

636

:

Concrete jungle.

637

:

Then you'll be right.

638

:

Yeah, yeah.

639

:

We're actually just

recording this too early.

640

:

You're already right in

a different timeline.

641

:

I, I do spend a lot of time drinking

coffee and thinking about the future.

642

:

Do you That's my number

one favorite hobby.

643

:

My, my.

644

:

My brand, my overall brand

is Party in the future.

645

:

Oh, okay.

646

:

Well, describe your future to us.

647

:

So.

648

:

You know, I would love, hold on, hold on.

649

:

Let's wind it back.

650

:

What type of coffee are you drinking?

651

:

Set the stage.

652

:

Um, espresso.

653

:

Okay.

654

:

I just, just straight single

or a double quadruple.

655

:

Damn.

656

:

Okay.

657

:

Just, and back to back lots of them.

658

:

I'm recovering drug addict, but I

don't do drugs anymore, so I just Okay.

659

:

Espresso.

660

:

It is turn up on the legal stuff.

661

:

And, , just as of now, just

a little bit of organic, uh.

662

:

Sugar.

663

:

I, I used to do coconut

cream, but, , economy's tight.

664

:

So we're That is a luxurious, yeah.

665

:

Yeah.

666

:

I love the coconut cream.

667

:

I, I learned that from Lot of Fruita.

668

:

Mm.

669

:

Yes.

670

:

A lot of local business.

671

:

, lot of Fruita who also used to be

in the airport for a short time.

672

:

I wish they were still there.

673

:

I know that.

674

:

I know.

675

:

. But they have the COTA and with

the crema, and it's so good.

676

:

And I try, I did my best for a

little while to make that at home.

677

:

And , now I just drink espresso with

a, a spoon and a half of sugar, but

678

:

it's like a cup full of espresso.

679

:

And I usually have about two of those.

680

:

Well, okay, just while

we're talking about it.

681

:

My day starts like this.

682

:

I wake up, I eat a handful of raw

spinach, couple bites of carrot.

683

:

Take down some organic,

fresh, squeeze orange juice.

684

:

Like a, like a shot.

685

:

'cause that's expensive too.

686

:

And do my dishes from last night

'cause I'm lazy the night before.

687

:

And then I make my espresso

and that's how I start my day.

688

:

Um, like Popeye every single day.

689

:

Yep.

690

:

Yep.

691

:

That's all I've had today is

espresso spinach in a carrot.

692

:

And that's my, my routine.

693

:

, and I get in the shower and turn it

on cold and it just hits me cold.

694

:

And then I'm like, I feel invincible.

695

:

Let's fucking go.

696

:

Yeah.

697

:

Yeah.

698

:

It's, no, it's, it's, it's like drugs.

699

:

I mean, it makes you feel like all

you, it, the, the shower thing will

700

:

make you forget anything you were

worried about five minutes ago.

701

:

Because your body will go into,

oh my God, I'm fucking freezing.

702

:

Am I gonna live?

703

:

And then like, by the

time the, it gets warm.

704

:

So to be clear, I'm turning it on

hot, but it's cold when it hits me.

705

:

So about a minute or so, and

then it gets warm and you're

706

:

like, everything's gonna be fine.

707

:

You just feel this overwhelming

relief and you've forgotten

708

:

anything you were worried about.

709

:

, so I, I have like a bunch of these

crazy routines that are all hardcore,

710

:

pretty hardcore and based on building

sustainability with myself, , realizing

711

:

that back to the healthcare thing,

like no one's gonna save you.

712

:

You have to save yourself.

713

:

And I, you know, the, I dunno

if you've heard of Wim Hof?

714

:

Oh, yes.

715

:

So, yeah, like, , it, it kind of

started when I, like first got out of

716

:

the roommate life quite a few years

ago and I had my own house and I was

717

:

like, I'm paying the rent and the

power and I didn't have hot water.

718

:

I.

719

:

And at the same time I discovered

the Wim Hof stuff and I was

720

:

just taking cold shower.

721

:

What?

722

:

Yeah.

723

:

Yeah.

724

:

And I was like, it, it basically talked

me into this is just what I'm meant to do.

725

:

, I think I did get that place in

the spring, so it wasn't like the

726

:

middle of winter when I started this.

727

:

Okay.

728

:

, they're harder to do in

the winter, but Yeah.

729

:

But rewarding.

730

:

Okay.

731

:

So we have a primitive morning.

732

:

Yeah.

733

:

Yeah.

734

:

And then you start contemplating.

735

:

Yeah.

736

:

And then I start trying to see, I

think about, you know, trends like.

737

:

, , especially in entertainment, I, I'm

seeing like a lot of like downtrend

738

:

on alcohol and uptrend on, you know,

a lot of these THC beverages and

739

:

mocktails and just healthier choices.

740

:

And it for sure, it actually gives

me a lot of faith that like the

741

:

younger kids don't seem to be going

out and partying like the way I did.

742

:

I mean at all.

743

:

Yeah.

744

:

When I was in my late

twenties and early thirties.

745

:

Give, you know, if I made a hundred

dollars today, I mean, I'm in East

746

:

Atlanta Village buying shots for everyone

and you're gonna have to kick me outta

747

:

this bar at the end of the night.

748

:

Where I have a lot of faith in the,

the younger people today because they

749

:

seem to be making healthier decisions

for themselves, which I think.

750

:

Also just feeds into, you know,

healthier decisions as a whole.

751

:

, so shouts out to the young people that

are, , moving the needle and taking

752

:

care of yourselves and prioritizing

mental health and physical health.

753

:

Yeah, the healthcare's

not gonna save you so.

754

:

Good job.

755

:

Honestly.

756

:

Even if you have healthcare, that's

not a No, no, don't count on that.

757

:

Yeah, do not count on it.

758

:

, I totally agree.

759

:

I am not a huge drinker.

760

:

I love smoking weed, but I don't drink

a ton, and it's been really nice seeing

761

:

that needle move because it's way more

acceptable now to be like, oh, I'm just

762

:

gonna drink a LaCroix and smoke a joint.

763

:

Like, yeah.

764

:

Okay.

765

:

Which is, I mean, and that's,

those are the next, that's

766

:

right after coffee for me.

767

:

Perfect.

768

:

Yeah.

769

:

Yeah.

770

:

I'm like, how far do you want

to go into my morning routine?

771

:

But, uh, but let's keep going.

772

:

Yeah.

773

:

Well, and then, you know, then it's

emails and I, I am usually on the

774

:

hook for creating some graphic design.

775

:

Like this morning I got up and put up,

, a ticket link for the Kilo Ali Show.

776

:

That'll happen on 4 0

4 day in the evening.

777

:

Wait, kilo Ali's playing.

778

:

Yes.

779

:

Okay.

780

:

I was actually hoping that when I

asked you who your favorite Atlanta

781

:

rapper was, you were gonna ask

me who mine was and you didn't.

782

:

Okay.

783

:

But I'm gonna tell you right now, it's

Kilo Ali, which is so fucking weird and

784

:

niche like I feel like it's perfect.

785

:

It makes perfect sense.

786

:

Wow.

787

:

I now I have to come to four.

788

:

Oh four day.

789

:

I can't wait.

790

:

I'm gonna get you, uh, how many tickets do

you want to the, this is an evening event.

791

:

It'll be a crazy Atlanta.

792

:

, what time does Kilo I Lee start?

793

:

Sometime between 11 and 12.

794

:

He'll be Okay.

795

:

So this is not at the park.

796

:

This is not at the park.

797

:

Okay.

798

:

This isn't after party shit.

799

:

Okay.

800

:

I'm gonna come to that.

801

:

Great.

802

:

I'm very excited actually.

803

:

Great.

804

:

Can I tell you a really

embarrassing story, please.

805

:

My morning started with

espresso and no food.

806

:

So now I'm like, I just

realized I'm, let's go.

807

:

It's hitting me.

808

:

, okay.

809

:

I, I'm also aging myself.

810

:

I had my 20 year high school

reunion this past summer and uh, I

811

:

wasn't gonna go 'cause I was like,

this is probably gonna be lame.

812

:

Since we're talking about all things

Atlanta today, let's shout out

813

:

the best way to actually keep up

with what's going on in the city.

814

:

Roughed Draft Atlanta.

815

:

Think of it like Atlanta's daily

briefing, news, events, people, politics,

816

:

all delivered straight to your inbox.

817

:

No fluff, no nonsense.

818

:

Just the stuff that actually matters

to Atlantans Perfect for a city.

819

:

Cool enough to have its own holiday

sign up through the link in our

820

:

show notes or@roughdraftatlanta.com

821

:

and stay in the know

822

:

Okay, so my 20 year high school reunion

this past August at Topgolf in Alpharetta.

823

:

I just wanna set the stage.

824

:

It's like in their event room.

825

:

This is not cool.

826

:

, however, it happened to be the best

combination of people that showed up and

827

:

it ended up being the best night ever.

828

:

But the highlight of the night

was the DJ playing love in

829

:

your mouth and me, and like.

830

:

Eight girls losing our mind and still

remembering every single word from

831

:

when we listened to that album when

we were honestly, way too young.

832

:

, and it just like, it, it was a core

memory for me to like be an adult

833

:

singing that shit so fucking loud.

834

:

I love it.

835

:

It was so much fun.

836

:

And if I'm not mistaken, and, and maybe

you can help me remember if this is true,

837

:

but I'm pretty sure that song came out.

838

:

Before out, I think Outkast had put

out their first album and that I

839

:

think came out before a aliens and

Big Boy was featured on that song.

840

:

Yes, he was.

841

:

But like at the time, I think Kilo

was the more famous out of the two.

842

:

Yes.

843

:

You know?

844

:

So it was like kind of a precursor

to the way that Atlanta was moving.

845

:

Absolutely.

846

:

And I still play Kilo in almost

every DJ set that I play.

847

:

What?

848

:

Like especially if I play like.

849

:

, some dubstep or something that's kind

of like, you know, like a 40 plus

850

:

person might be like, this isn't for me.

851

:

And then you kind of mix in with, , you

know, baby, baby, oh, I need yo l lovie.

852

:

And then they, and then you

kind of gain their, their trust.

853

:

Yeah.

854

:

So I'm, I play kilo in almost

every DJ set that I play.

855

:

That's so awesome.

856

:

Yeah.

857

:

So, so come out and even, even on

nights when he's not playing, come

858

:

on out and see me DJ and I'll play.

859

:

All of your favorite kilo songs.

860

:

I have all of them.

861

:

This is the, the best thing

I've learned this morning.

862

:

, what's your favorite kilo song?

863

:

I would say.

864

:

I really like the tone that like,

show me love where it's like, ah,

865

:

I'm gonna show you.

866

:

I just think with the way that comes

in, it just, you can't be in a bad mood.

867

:

Like, I have chills.

868

:

Just, just with that, like, you know,

just thinking of that kind of dropping.

869

:

But I, I love them all.

870

:

He's a great performer.

871

:

, I do have a song with Kilo.

872

:

We recorded a song.

873

:

It's on my, oh, wow.

874

:

This is crazy.

875

:

Yeah, it was on my, it was on my,

my Christmas album, uh, that I put

876

:

out a few years ago in, in two,

:

877

:

But it's called Lot of Love.

878

:

And he did the hook and then, and

the last verse, and my homegirl

879

:

precious DSO is the middle verse.

880

:

And, , it's fun.

881

:

It's, it's got a little bit

of the like double time.

882

:

Beat and then, then some halftime

where it's, you know, more like a

883

:

trap beat or whatever you expect

usually from Atlanta these days.

884

:

So I got a little mix of both of

those styles on the beat that I made.

885

:

And, , he was at my house.

886

:

, I helped him place a few, like placements,

, like I helped him book a couple shows

887

:

with , was it the, the black lips.

888

:

They wanted him to open for them.

889

:

Mm-hmm.

890

:

At Variety Playhouse, there was

this other band that wanted him to

891

:

come do a feature and I helped him

just place a few of these things.

892

:

, oh, so you like know Kilo Well.

893

:

Okay, so 8 0 8 Fest in 2012.

894

:

Kilo had just gotten out of prison and

we booked his, what was he in prison for?

895

:

, he, he burned down his

house when his own house.

896

:

When, when I, I think

I like insurance, Kim.

897

:

, I, I think, I don't wanna speak for him,

but the rumor and, and I, I actually.

898

:

Have been thinking about inviting him to

do a podcast to ask about this because my,

899

:

I have a podcast idea called, and I own

the website, , where it all went wrong.

900

:

Ooh.

901

:

So you like ask people who are

successful, you know, tell me

902

:

about a time when it went bad.

903

:

Yeah.

904

:

So I want to actually ask him about this.

905

:

'cause I don't know, but I believe, and

I really don't wanna misspeak, , kilo.

906

:

So if I'm, if I'm misrepresenting

you in any way, I'd.

907

:

Sincerely apologize, but I believe the

rumor that the rapper named Kilo Ali was,

908

:

, kind of known for some activity that might

have bring some negative attention to you.

909

:

And I think the, the police were,

910

:

we're coming in and, and he, he lit

the thing on fire and, and said, I

911

:

got the answer for you guys, not.

912

:

Yeah.

913

:

Yeah.

914

:

And then, and then went, went

to prison, I think for 10 years.

915

:

10 years for arson.

916

:

And then when he got out, , I.

917

:

I booked him for the very first 8

0 8 Fest, which was on a Wednesday

918

:

that, same year that we did 4

0 4 day at, Claremont Lounge.

919

:

Later that year.

920

:

We did Kilo Ali at the Connect

Lounge on Auburn Avenue.

921

:

And, , , I got him, , a cool

interview at Creative Loafing where

922

:

we could sit down and, and talk.

923

:

, and then, so yeah, we, we

became friends through that.

924

:

And we we're still friends.

925

:

I saw him the other day to,

to, , to lock in this show.

926

:

And, , he's, he's looking good and

he's, he's in good spirits and I

927

:

think it's gonna be a, a cool show.

928

:

And I'm, I'm hoping I can get another,

a verse out of him, , one day soon.

929

:

Yeah.

930

:

So we'll see what happens.

931

:

Oh man, this is so exciting.

932

:

I, um.

933

:

This will connect to it.

934

:

I have a fish tank aquarium.

935

:

Okay, cool.

936

:

And I have three fishes in my fish tank.

937

:

There are three.

938

:

Guppies started with

six, now I have three.

939

:

, but every time I walk by them, my

brain just automatically says I take

940

:

three little fishes and I put 'em.

941

:

No lie.

942

:

Yes.

943

:

Every single time.

944

:

Yes.

945

:

I'm just like, God, this is so white.

946

:

, but.

947

:

I just, yeah, no, I love the remix.

948

:

Yeah, I bet.

949

:

I bet you he would love that too.

950

:

I hope he hears this.

951

:

I don't think he would love that.

952

:

I think, I think that artists, you know,

just feeling like they've influenced your

953

:

day in any way, I think feels gratifying.

954

:

You know?

955

:

That's fair.

956

:

Ke kilo has genuinely

influenced me so much.

957

:

Like I still listen to

that album regularly.

958

:

Yeah.

959

:

Shit's good.

960

:

It's very good.

961

:

It's very, and it still stands

up like when I mix, oh my God.

962

:

Yeah.

963

:

When I mix it in.

964

:

You know, it's not, it doesn't

sound quiet or anything.

965

:

I mean, , they did a really

good job with , organized noise.

966

:

That classic album that had Love

in your Mouth, baby, baby, all of

967

:

those classic songs is so good.

968

:

Yeah.

969

:

Yeah.

970

:

That's to me.

971

:

So Atlanta, absolutely.

972

:

Yeah.

973

:

He, he says that he is the fourth rapper

out of Atlanta, and I think that's

974

:

cool If you could just, you know, put

a number on it like that, you know?

975

:

Yeah.

976

:

I don't Who are the three before him?

977

:

I know that Mc Shy d is arguably the

first, and he, he moved down here from.

978

:

New York and then started

rapping about Atlanta.

979

:

Okay.

980

:

But he like kind of, you know, brought

in, in, this is just my understanding.

981

:

I'm not a historian to get new face

in here or, , you know, MC Chey

982

:

himself and, and Kilo and, , but Mc

Chey came down and started rapping.

983

:

I think he was, he went to like Columbia

High or, or something like that.

984

:

And, you know, he was rapping Atlanta

even though it was, he was like.

985

:

I think the rap says, , the

city is Atlanta.

986

:

The county is Decatur.

987

:

Which I think ah, is funny.

988

:

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

989

:

You know, it's like, and,

and that's creative freedom.

990

:

You can say that.

991

:

And it's, looking back.

992

:

So anyway, a long history of

claiming Atlanta, even when you

993

:

were just outside and, shouts out.

994

:

Mcy we're actually

trying to book a DJ set.

995

:

From Mc Shy D for 4 0 4 week.

996

:

Oh, cool.

997

:

He is around, he actually like, , was

doing a weekly over right in my

998

:

neighborhood at this bar called

Pseudo, and I, I saw that he was

999

:

doing something there and connected

with him and, , we were trying to

:

00:39:38,303 --> 00:39:42,593

find the exact right opportunity

to have him be a part of this year.

:

00:39:42,593 --> 00:39:44,633

But I'm ready to ask you

some more questions actually.

:

00:39:44,818 --> 00:39:47,993

I, I, I feel like I, I've dropped the

ball on not asking you your favorite

:

00:39:47,993 --> 00:39:50,198

rapper, but you're not, you don't have to.

:

00:39:50,443 --> 00:39:53,033

But, but what, you know, what,

what Atlanta rap are you listening

:

00:39:53,033 --> 00:39:55,583

to more recently, if, if any?

:

00:39:56,063 --> 00:39:58,253

Honestly, no.

:

00:39:58,253 --> 00:39:58,913

Atlanta rap.

:

00:39:59,273 --> 00:40:03,053

No, I've been listening to it's

exclusively political podcasts.

:

00:40:03,233 --> 00:40:03,623

Okay.

:

00:40:03,683 --> 00:40:06,713

I'm doing the exact opposite of setting

my day up well for mental health.

:

00:40:06,743 --> 00:40:06,953

Okay.

:

00:40:06,953 --> 00:40:08,693

And I'm just going straight into it.

:

00:40:08,873 --> 00:40:09,113

Okay.

:

00:40:09,173 --> 00:40:09,953

Um, uh.

:

00:40:10,238 --> 00:40:11,978

Uh, let's see, who's

the last lanter rapper?

:

00:40:11,978 --> 00:40:13,028

I was like, really into, uh,

:

00:40:15,278 --> 00:40:16,778

I have like a big little baby moment.

:

00:40:16,928 --> 00:40:17,288

Okay.

:

00:40:17,378 --> 00:40:20,438

Um, but yeah, I don't know.

:

00:40:20,618 --> 00:40:20,978

Okay.

:

00:40:21,098 --> 00:40:21,458

I don't know.

:

00:40:21,458 --> 00:40:22,328

That's a boring answer.

:

00:40:22,418 --> 00:40:23,138

No, no, it's fine.

:

00:40:23,228 --> 00:40:23,258

Npr.

:

00:40:23,798 --> 00:40:27,698

Yeah, no, I, I listen to NPR

that's playing in the radio in my

:

00:40:27,698 --> 00:40:29,378

kitchen when I'm making my coffee.

:

00:40:29,478 --> 00:40:29,838

, and then.

:

00:40:30,453 --> 00:40:31,143

And your spinach.

:

00:40:31,473 --> 00:40:34,443

In my spinach and I kind of take

in a little bit of world news and

:

00:40:34,443 --> 00:40:38,253

then I go in my studio and, and

you know, put on, some Gucci Mane.

:

00:40:38,323 --> 00:40:41,743

, you know, I have been listening to

the new Killer Mike album a lot.

:

00:40:41,743 --> 00:40:43,303

I try to listen to the radio sometimes.

:

00:40:43,303 --> 00:40:46,243

I don't know if you ever do, but just

to kind of just hear every now and then.

:

00:40:46,243 --> 00:40:46,393

I do.

:

00:40:46,393 --> 00:40:46,573

Yeah.

:

00:40:46,723 --> 00:40:50,383

When I heard that 99 X came back, I

was like, I'm gonna listen to this,

:

00:40:50,383 --> 00:40:53,293

but then I was like, this shit's

so old, like it's nothing changed.

:

00:40:53,353 --> 00:40:53,503

Right.

:

00:40:53,503 --> 00:40:54,703

It's a throwback station now.

:

00:40:54,703 --> 00:40:55,573

It's, I know.

:

00:40:55,573 --> 00:40:56,503

That's when I was like, fuck.

:

00:40:56,503 --> 00:41:00,583

That's how you know you're old is

I was like, 99 x now is what B 98.5

:

00:41:00,583 --> 00:41:02,983

was when I was a kid and

like the old people music.

:

00:41:03,013 --> 00:41:03,103

Mm-hmm.

:

00:41:03,913 --> 00:41:05,953

I would think more like 96 Rock.

:

00:41:06,658 --> 00:41:08,068

Like cla it's like classic rock.

:

00:41:08,068 --> 00:41:08,518

That's fair.

:

00:41:08,523 --> 00:41:08,763

Yeah.

:

00:41:08,768 --> 00:41:09,268

Yeah.

:

00:41:09,298 --> 00:41:12,388

For our not, not to be, you

know, contradicting or anything.

:

00:41:12,658 --> 00:41:13,798

No, you're not wrong.

:

00:41:14,058 --> 00:41:16,548

, I also had a moment where I was

grocery shopping recently and I

:

00:41:16,548 --> 00:41:18,378

was like, fuck yeah, I haven't

heard this song in a while.

:

00:41:18,408 --> 00:41:22,488

And then I was like, oh no, like you're

being targeted in grocery store music.

:

00:41:22,488 --> 00:41:23,838

That's how you know you're old.

:

00:41:24,048 --> 00:41:24,798

You're like, I love it.

:

00:41:24,798 --> 00:41:24,978

Fuck.

:

00:41:24,978 --> 00:41:25,698

I know this.

:

00:41:26,093 --> 00:41:26,933

Semi term kinda life.

:

00:41:26,933 --> 00:41:27,563

Fuck yes.

:

00:41:27,563 --> 00:41:29,993

Like, yeah, this club is very well lit.

:

00:41:30,533 --> 00:41:32,183

Totally, totally well staffed.

:

00:41:32,183 --> 00:41:32,963

It's so clean.

:

00:41:33,113 --> 00:41:35,333

Food options for days, for sure.

:

00:41:36,813 --> 00:41:37,113

, okay.

:

00:41:37,113 --> 00:41:37,983

What else do you have for me?

:

00:41:38,393 --> 00:41:42,713

I'm, I wanted to know, you said Alpharetta

for your, what high school did you go to?

:

00:41:42,953 --> 00:41:45,053

So, I grew up in Roswell and

I went to Roswell High School.

:

00:41:45,083 --> 00:41:45,713

Okay, cool.

:

00:41:45,803 --> 00:41:46,223

Mm-hmm.

:

00:41:46,463 --> 00:41:47,783

I, I went, they, they kind of.

:

00:41:48,038 --> 00:41:51,428

Halfway kicked me out of North Springs

High School for a little while, and I

:

00:41:51,428 --> 00:41:52,418

did, did you have to go to Independence?

:

00:41:52,478 --> 00:41:54,368

I went to Roswell for a little while.

:

00:41:54,368 --> 00:41:54,488

Oh, cool.

:

00:41:54,518 --> 00:41:56,978

Like they were like,

just drive yourself up.

:

00:41:57,578 --> 00:42:00,638

Just keep on going and, and 'cause they

were like, well, if we officially kick

:

00:42:00,638 --> 00:42:04,658

you out of this high school, then you

can't go to any Fulton County schools.

:

00:42:04,658 --> 00:42:09,248

But they were like, if we give you this,

like have a psychiatrist say you're

:

00:42:09,248 --> 00:42:11,018

gonna benefit from changing schools.

:

00:42:11,018 --> 00:42:13,148

We can send you to another and try that.

:

00:42:13,148 --> 00:42:14,738

And they sent me to

Roswell for a while, which.

:

00:42:14,738 --> 00:42:20,648

The I, I fit there worse, and then

I, I basically was spending all day

:

00:42:20,648 --> 00:42:23,438

in, in school suspension and then

eventually went to independence.

:

00:42:23,838 --> 00:42:28,748

But , that was my history in,

in the North Fulton County Yeah.

:

00:42:28,748 --> 00:42:28,928

Area.

:

00:42:28,928 --> 00:42:30,068

So we, we kind of school system.

:

00:42:30,518 --> 00:42:33,398

Well, I went to summer school one

year at North Springs, so, uh, okay.

:

00:42:34,073 --> 00:42:34,823

Lots of overlap.

:

00:42:34,823 --> 00:42:35,543

Cool, cool.

:

00:42:35,603 --> 00:42:35,873

Yeah.

:

00:42:35,873 --> 00:42:38,753

You visited high, uh, that's

where Usher went to high school.

:

00:42:38,843 --> 00:42:39,413

At North Springs?

:

00:42:39,443 --> 00:42:39,713

Yep.

:

00:42:39,713 --> 00:42:40,043

Really?

:

00:42:40,043 --> 00:42:40,133

Yep.

:

00:42:41,183 --> 00:42:41,933

Interesting.

:

00:42:42,413 --> 00:42:43,943

He was one grade above me.

:

00:42:43,943 --> 00:42:44,483

And when you.

:

00:42:44,903 --> 00:42:49,913

When you see him on TV now and you think

that guy's one year older than me, you're

:

00:42:49,913 --> 00:42:54,863

like, wow, what a good job This guy's

done at aging, taking care of himself.

:

00:42:54,923 --> 00:42:58,283

Yeah, he does look pretty

good and pretty young.

:

00:42:58,373 --> 00:42:59,213

Yeah, it looks great.

:

00:42:59,423 --> 00:42:59,843

Yeah.

:

00:43:00,088 --> 00:43:00,808

Oh, that's awesome.

:

00:43:01,138 --> 00:43:03,388

, I forgot that I went to summer

school until just now, and

:

00:43:03,388 --> 00:43:04,648

I feel like I wanna clarify.

:

00:43:04,858 --> 00:43:05,848

I'm very smart.

:

00:43:05,848 --> 00:43:08,038

I just didn't give a fuck about school.

:

00:43:08,668 --> 00:43:08,968

Same.

:

00:43:09,148 --> 00:43:09,838

No, same.

:

00:43:09,838 --> 00:43:13,528

I, I, they gave me the a DD

early before they added the h.

:

00:43:13,528 --> 00:43:15,658

They, they, they let

me have it real early.

:

00:43:16,498 --> 00:43:20,098

Um, and I kind of just decided.

:

00:43:20,098 --> 00:43:24,508

Do you have the h Uh, they, they gave it

to me now, but I, I just, I instead of.

:

00:43:24,878 --> 00:43:28,118

Kind of subscribing to

all the pills and stuff.

:

00:43:28,148 --> 00:43:34,208

I, I just try to focus on things that

I really do care about and I find that

:

00:43:34,208 --> 00:43:37,328

I have all the attention span in the

world for things that I care about.

:

00:43:37,333 --> 00:43:37,553

Yeah.

:

00:43:37,838 --> 00:43:40,778

And then things that are just, I

don't care about, I have no attention

:

00:43:40,778 --> 00:43:44,498

span for them, so it's very difficult

for me to do, like, to go get just

:

00:43:44,498 --> 00:43:46,898

like a, like a day job or something.

:

00:43:46,928 --> 00:43:50,678

'cause I just have no focus

for these pointless activities.

:

00:43:50,678 --> 00:43:52,388

However, when it, when it comes to like.

:

00:43:52,388 --> 00:43:55,823

Y you know, doing something like 4 0

4 day or finishing this rap album or

:

00:43:55,823 --> 00:43:58,188

just I get like hyper obsessed Yeah.

:

00:43:58,283 --> 00:44:00,293

Over the things that I do care about.

:

00:44:00,473 --> 00:44:00,533

Yeah.

:

00:44:00,803 --> 00:44:05,813

And, and on that note, I've learned to be

careful what I get hyper obsessed over.

:

00:44:05,813 --> 00:44:09,653

Like if you get hyper obsessed over, just

say like a romantic partner or something

:

00:44:09,653 --> 00:44:14,333

that is way out of your control, you

can be hyper obsessed over something

:

00:44:14,333 --> 00:44:16,403

that is really hurting you mentally.

:

00:44:16,733 --> 00:44:18,233

And so I've learned to.

:

00:44:18,233 --> 00:44:22,193

Take that obsession, that obsessive

attention span that I have for certain

:

00:44:22,193 --> 00:44:26,513

things and just only give that attention

to the right, you know, make, make

:

00:44:26,513 --> 00:44:29,693

sure if you're doing that, it's on to

music or these events or something.

:

00:44:29,693 --> 00:44:34,163

Because I've realized over the years

I'm gonna stress out about something.

:

00:44:34,193 --> 00:44:34,433

Mm-hmm.

:

00:44:34,883 --> 00:44:38,483

So let's just make sure it's

4 0 4 day and not, yeah.

:

00:44:38,873 --> 00:44:42,278

You know, your ex-girlfriend or whatever,

you know, so, so good and not evil.

:

00:44:42,828 --> 00:44:43,118

Yeah.

:

00:44:43,118 --> 00:44:43,398

Yeah.

:

00:44:43,458 --> 00:44:47,843

So I'm, I'm very selective with

where I put my energy now because

:

00:44:47,843 --> 00:44:52,563

I am obsessive and once I lock in,

I can't think about anything else.

:

00:44:52,563 --> 00:44:52,623

Yeah.

:

00:44:52,623 --> 00:44:56,853

Like I, I almost like, I probably slept

for five hours last night because of

:

00:44:56,853 --> 00:45:00,963

just one little thing that was up in

the air about 4 0 4 day, and I just

:

00:45:01,263 --> 00:45:04,413

went to sleep thinking about it and I

woke up thinking about it and I just.

:

00:45:04,638 --> 00:45:06,378

I can't think of anything else.

:

00:45:06,378 --> 00:45:10,488

So I have to really be careful where I put

that energy and I can be very effective

:

00:45:10,488 --> 00:45:14,748

if I put that in the right places because

I just will get things done by any means.

:

00:45:15,288 --> 00:45:20,418

Uh, that sums a DD up so well, and

I am positive that I have this.

:

00:45:20,418 --> 00:45:21,343

I've never been diagnosed, but.

:

00:45:21,873 --> 00:45:24,963

Women and girls are chronically

underdiagnosed for everything.

:

00:45:25,293 --> 00:45:28,833

, but a couple years ago, a client of

mine was like, I think you have a DHD.

:

00:45:28,863 --> 00:45:30,273

And I was like, I'm sure that I do.

:

00:45:30,333 --> 00:45:33,033

And he was like, here's an Adderall,

use it on your next day off.

:

00:45:33,033 --> 00:45:34,053

And I was like, okay.

:

00:45:34,113 --> 00:45:37,893

And so I I, I kept it for like months and

then I was like, oh, I have that Adderall.

:

00:45:37,893 --> 00:45:40,503

And I had like a ton of shit to

do that day that was like, stuff

:

00:45:40,503 --> 00:45:41,373

I didn't care about, you know?

:

00:45:41,973 --> 00:45:42,123

Mm-hmm.

:

00:45:42,363 --> 00:45:44,433

Behind on laundry, behind on dishes,

behind on like life bullshit.

:

00:45:44,433 --> 00:45:46,893

And I was like, let me take that

Adderall and see what happens.

:

00:45:46,923 --> 00:45:47,763

And I was like.

:

00:45:48,293 --> 00:45:51,323

Oh, like, is this how

normal people's brains work?

:

00:45:51,473 --> 00:45:55,223

I had the most productive day of my life,

and I still don't take drugs for it.

:

00:45:55,273 --> 00:45:57,643

, I, I self modulate and regulate.

:

00:45:57,673 --> 00:46:00,163

But have you taken an Adderall?

:

00:46:00,733 --> 00:46:02,773

I, I'm, like I said

earlier, I'm a drug addict.

:

00:46:02,773 --> 00:46:05,143

I was way on the Adderall.

:

00:46:05,143 --> 00:46:06,193

They gave me the Ritalin.

:

00:46:06,193 --> 00:46:06,793

It's too much Adderall.

:

00:46:06,853 --> 00:46:10,633

They gave me, they gave me some stuff that

I don't even remember, and they were like.

:

00:46:10,633 --> 00:46:14,863

You know, I, I've tried it all and I, I

got into harder drugs and I, you know,

:

00:46:14,863 --> 00:46:16,813

people say like, weed is the gateway drug.

:

00:46:17,113 --> 00:46:18,403

Weed was my gateway out.

:

00:46:18,493 --> 00:46:19,183

Yeah.

:

00:46:19,243 --> 00:46:24,013

I, doing Adderall led me to doing

other uppers and all kinds of mm-hmm.

:

00:46:24,353 --> 00:46:24,923

, drugs.

:

00:46:25,403 --> 00:46:28,283

And I love Adderall.

:

00:46:28,433 --> 00:46:29,843

That's why I don't take it.

:

00:46:29,963 --> 00:46:30,293

Yeah.

:

00:46:30,353 --> 00:46:33,483

Because, you know when you get

that hyper-productive and you say,

:

00:46:33,483 --> 00:46:34,983

is this how regular people think?

:

00:46:35,403 --> 00:46:36,543

I'm not sure.

:

00:46:36,573 --> 00:46:38,973

I don't think a regular

person is that focused.

:

00:46:39,273 --> 00:46:39,513

Okay.

:

00:46:39,573 --> 00:46:42,213

Either, you know, it's just

the contrast between like what

:

00:46:42,213 --> 00:46:43,468

the brain normally is like.

:

00:46:43,473 --> 00:46:44,133

Right, right.

:

00:46:44,133 --> 00:46:47,523

And, and I think you can become

hyper-focused and I think

:

00:46:48,063 --> 00:46:49,503

those kind of drugs can be app.

:

00:46:49,593 --> 00:46:52,833

Like when I went to go take my

GED, 'cause I, I dropped out.

:

00:46:52,833 --> 00:46:55,893

I, I took an Adderall and I

whipped through that thing.

:

00:46:56,343 --> 00:46:58,113

I got two girls phone numbers.

:

00:46:58,113 --> 00:46:59,853

I was the first one out of every test.

:

00:46:59,853 --> 00:47:01,143

I got Hope Scholarship.

:

00:47:01,323 --> 00:47:06,663

I was a superhuman that day, but I

needed to wake up tomorrow and not

:

00:47:06,693 --> 00:47:08,703

do that again or else right now.

:

00:47:08,703 --> 00:47:11,133

I'm, you know, I've, I've

seen people that, that.

:

00:47:11,943 --> 00:47:14,613

Took it to get through college, and then

they're like, okay, I'm done with college

:

00:47:14,613 --> 00:47:15,693

now I need to take it to go to work.

:

00:47:15,693 --> 00:47:19,293

And then they, when you try to get

off and, and, and you don't have any

:

00:47:19,293 --> 00:47:21,813

naturally occurring happy juice or focus.

:

00:47:21,933 --> 00:47:22,113

Mm-hmm.

:

00:47:22,353 --> 00:47:26,253

You know, it's, to me it's all about

building muscle of, you know, if,

:

00:47:26,253 --> 00:47:29,703

if you need to build your attention

span, like build it up a little

:

00:47:29,703 --> 00:47:33,423

bit at a time, do a little bit more

of like stuff that you don't want

:

00:47:33,423 --> 00:47:34,683

to do, that you have to do, which.

:

00:47:34,998 --> 00:47:38,988

Like being an artist, there's a ton of

work you don't want to do, like busy work.

:

00:47:39,108 --> 00:47:39,198

Mm-hmm.

:

00:47:39,448 --> 00:47:41,458

And you've gotta build

a tolerance for that.

:

00:47:41,458 --> 00:47:43,078

And, and I do a reward system.

:

00:47:43,078 --> 00:47:44,758

Like, I'm like I do the spinach.

:

00:47:45,133 --> 00:47:48,853

Then I have the coffee, then I have

the joint, and I, so I, I'm like, I'm

:

00:47:48,853 --> 00:47:52,783

gonna do all this stuff I don't want

to do, I got a little treat, you know?

:

00:47:52,873 --> 00:47:52,933

Yeah.

:

00:47:52,933 --> 00:47:55,243

And that's, that's how I

deal with it personally.

:

00:47:55,393 --> 00:47:56,233

I do the same thing.

:

00:47:56,233 --> 00:47:59,203

And I actually have a funny

story of a recent reward failure.

:

00:47:59,533 --> 00:48:03,013

So I learned on TikTok, I don't

know if you know this, you can go to

:

00:48:03,013 --> 00:48:07,093

Publix, to their seafood department

and they will steam seafood for you.

:

00:48:07,093 --> 00:48:07,633

Did you know that?

:

00:48:07,663 --> 00:48:08,053

Mm-hmm.

:

00:48:08,053 --> 00:48:08,173

No.

:

00:48:08,293 --> 00:48:08,593

Okay.

:

00:48:08,593 --> 00:48:09,823

I didn't either, but I was like.

:

00:48:09,993 --> 00:48:13,053

That sounds like a great way to have

some fucking crab legs and shrimps.

:

00:48:13,233 --> 00:48:13,353

Yeah.

:

00:48:13,443 --> 00:48:17,853

So all week, last week I was like, I've

got a bunch to do, and at the end of my

:

00:48:17,853 --> 00:48:22,953

workday on Saturday, I am going to treat

myself to steamed seafood from Publix.

:

00:48:23,103 --> 00:48:23,193

Yum.

:

00:48:23,463 --> 00:48:27,813

If I get all this done, so of course I get

it all done 'cause the reward and I walk

:

00:48:27,813 --> 00:48:30,783

up to the seafood counter and I'm like,

hello, do you have any snow crab legs?

:

00:48:30,783 --> 00:48:31,623

And she was like, no.

:

00:48:31,683 --> 00:48:34,443

And I was like, oh, like nowhere.

:

00:48:34,443 --> 00:48:35,703

And she was like, no.

:

00:48:35,913 --> 00:48:36,633

And I was like.

:

00:48:37,003 --> 00:48:38,713

Oh, fuck.

:

00:48:38,713 --> 00:48:41,113

Like I didn't take into

account that like You'd be out.

:

00:48:41,118 --> 00:48:41,288

Yeah.

:

00:48:41,408 --> 00:48:42,248

I was like, this is my treat.

:

00:48:42,343 --> 00:48:42,673

Yeah.

:

00:48:42,678 --> 00:48:42,968

What do you mean?

:

00:48:43,153 --> 00:48:44,173

I was like, when will you get more?

:

00:48:44,173 --> 00:48:44,953

And she's like, I don't know.

:

00:48:45,013 --> 00:48:48,283

And I was like, okay, but like, are

we talking like weekly, monthly?

:

00:48:48,283 --> 00:48:49,273

And she was like, I don't know.

:

00:48:49,273 --> 00:48:50,773

And I was like, okay.

:

00:48:50,983 --> 00:48:53,263

Like do, which one of

us is at work right now?

:

00:48:53,413 --> 00:48:54,463

Like, holy shit.

:

00:48:54,463 --> 00:48:55,873

It was such a bummer.

:

00:48:55,933 --> 00:48:56,983

And so I just went to Taco Bell.

:

00:48:58,063 --> 00:48:58,483

Amen.

:

00:48:58,513 --> 00:48:59,293

Also a good reward.

:

00:48:59,293 --> 00:49:00,133

I, I do that.

:

00:49:00,193 --> 00:49:01,543

I've done that as well.

:

00:49:01,543 --> 00:49:04,303

And you know that maybe she

hadn't had her little treat.

:

00:49:04,813 --> 00:49:06,733

She definitely, she needed a little treat.

:

00:49:06,733 --> 00:49:06,793

Yeah.

:

00:49:06,793 --> 00:49:08,263

She has a sour.

:

00:49:08,503 --> 00:49:08,953

Yeah.

:

00:49:09,313 --> 00:49:12,983

But, , we, we gotta, maybe

we can, have you been back?

:

00:49:12,983 --> 00:49:13,643

Have you tried again?

:

00:49:13,763 --> 00:49:15,953

No, this was literally this past Saturday.

:

00:49:16,373 --> 00:49:20,543

I'm gonna check at the public near

my house and see if this option

:

00:49:20,543 --> 00:49:23,153

is available and see if I can get

you some info on the snow crab.

:

00:49:23,183 --> 00:49:24,323

Oh my God, yes.

:

00:49:24,323 --> 00:49:26,783

Like surely there's gotta be somebody

who knows when that truck comes.

:

00:49:26,873 --> 00:49:27,083

Yeah.

:

00:49:27,083 --> 00:49:29,153

Because you got, that's

apparently how this goes.

:

00:49:29,333 --> 00:49:29,573

Yeah.

:

00:49:30,233 --> 00:49:32,603

They, they just need a

little treat to, yeah.

:

00:49:33,203 --> 00:49:34,673

Everyone just needs a little treat.

:

00:49:34,763 --> 00:49:35,963

You deserve it, dude.

:

00:49:36,113 --> 00:49:36,623

Yes.

:

00:49:36,623 --> 00:49:37,373

Treat yourself.

:

00:49:37,373 --> 00:49:38,693

That's my favorite motto in life.

:

00:49:39,143 --> 00:49:39,503

Amen.

:

00:49:39,503 --> 00:49:43,013

But it can go wrong because I've treated

myself to some outrageous things.

:

00:49:43,223 --> 00:49:45,933

'cause I like, , just, , gaslight

myself into thinking there's

:

00:49:45,933 --> 00:49:47,163

nothing I don't deserve.

:

00:49:47,583 --> 00:49:47,943

You know?

:

00:49:47,948 --> 00:49:49,533

I, I support your decision.

:

00:49:49,653 --> 00:49:50,073

Thank you.

:

00:49:50,763 --> 00:49:51,333

You deserve it.

:

00:49:51,453 --> 00:49:53,313

What's the last crazy thing

you treated yourself to?

:

00:49:53,313 --> 00:49:56,673

Mm, about a year ago.

:

00:49:56,973 --> 00:49:58,293

I was in Hawaii.

:

00:49:58,383 --> 00:49:58,773

Okay.

:

00:49:58,773 --> 00:50:00,273

That was, that was a good time.

:

00:50:00,343 --> 00:50:04,843

, since then, I've been kind of, uh,

I, I've really been trying to lean

:

00:50:04,843 --> 00:50:06,823

in on, on getting, getting a job.

:

00:50:06,823 --> 00:50:09,013

So my treats have been limited.

:

00:50:09,283 --> 00:50:09,313

Okay.

:

00:50:09,473 --> 00:50:11,723

kind of go feast or famine in:

:

00:50:11,723 --> 00:50:16,763

I like got a house, a new car, or

:

:

00:50:16,763 --> 00:50:21,503

got the new truck and like signed

up for a, a timeshare and just,

:

00:50:22,073 --> 00:50:25,403

you know, got, got Amazon Prime,

like things I'd never done before.

:

00:50:25,403 --> 00:50:26,873

Just did all of the like.

:

00:50:26,873 --> 00:50:27,653

Capitalist.

:

00:50:27,683 --> 00:50:28,523

Selfish.

:

00:50:29,003 --> 00:50:29,063

Yeah.

:

00:50:29,063 --> 00:50:30,143

Overdo it things.

:

00:50:30,143 --> 00:50:35,243

And then I've been kind of like stripping

back, you know, 'cause that that truck

:

00:50:35,243 --> 00:50:38,573

payment and that mortgage payment and

all those things and the, , the credit

:

00:50:38,573 --> 00:50:40,463

cards, they all come knocking every week.

:

00:50:40,463 --> 00:50:43,343

And so I've been actively

trying to need less.

:

00:50:43,343 --> 00:50:45,833

Like I took the, the coconut

cream outta the coffee.

:

00:50:46,218 --> 00:50:46,958

That's a big deal.

:

00:50:47,213 --> 00:50:47,693

Yeah.

:

00:50:48,023 --> 00:50:51,903

So I've not really been treating

myself in the last year, but hopefully

:

00:50:51,903 --> 00:50:57,653

on 4 0 5 day this year I'll deserve

a couple tequilas or something.

:

00:50:57,803 --> 00:50:58,373

Yeah.

:

00:50:58,808 --> 00:50:59,798

Absolutely.

:

00:50:59,978 --> 00:51:01,298

Yeah, I think that's reasonable.

:

00:51:01,718 --> 00:51:02,198

Okay.

:

00:51:02,258 --> 00:51:06,518

Well, I think no matter what the treat

is, there is something psychological

:

00:51:06,518 --> 00:51:10,988

about having something to look forward

to that helps you just be a human.

:

00:51:11,378 --> 00:51:11,708

Amen.

:

00:51:12,638 --> 00:51:13,448

We couldn't agree more.

:

00:51:14,048 --> 00:51:14,558

I love it.

:

00:51:14,778 --> 00:51:19,968

, okay, so to recap, 4 0 4

day is on Saturday, right?

:

00:51:20,118 --> 00:51:20,628

Friday this year.

:

00:51:20,628 --> 00:51:20,958

Friday.

:

00:51:20,958 --> 00:51:21,288

Friday this year.

:

00:51:21,348 --> 00:51:22,278

Saturday next year.

:

00:51:22,338 --> 00:51:23,088

Saturday next year.

:

00:51:23,178 --> 00:51:24,498

Do leap years Fuck you up.

:

00:51:24,868 --> 00:51:27,418

, we skip a day, like every

year it'll push back a day.

:

00:51:27,418 --> 00:51:30,358

So , three years ago was

Tuesday, then we had a leap year.

:

00:51:30,358 --> 00:51:31,468

We skipped Wednesday.

:

00:51:32,128 --> 00:51:34,258

Move to Thursday, this year's Friday.

:

00:51:34,258 --> 00:51:39,418

The the leap year is actually gonna

help me for the first time in the

:

00:51:39,418 --> 00:51:43,618

existence of 4 0 4 day, because every

leap year up until now has skipped

:

00:51:43,978 --> 00:51:45,838

either a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

:

00:51:46,258 --> 00:51:46,498

Damn.

:

00:51:46,558 --> 00:51:49,918

But now this year we've got

Friday this year, Saturday next

:

00:51:49,918 --> 00:51:51,538

year, and Sunday the next year.

:

00:51:51,748 --> 00:51:52,948

And the next year is a leap year.

:

00:51:52,948 --> 00:51:53,623

We skip Monday.

:

00:51:54,508 --> 00:51:57,718

Which is nice 'cause we get to

one step closer to the weekend.

:

00:51:57,768 --> 00:52:04,068

So, , the next five, the next 20

years, the next five leap years,

:

00:52:04,068 --> 00:52:08,478

and that's how my brain just thinks

everything is, is 10 year plan or more.

:

00:52:08,808 --> 00:52:11,358

, the next five leap years,

we'll skip a weekday.

:

00:52:11,598 --> 00:52:12,108

Okay.

:

00:52:12,168 --> 00:52:14,298

So they're, they're, they're fine.

:

00:52:14,298 --> 00:52:16,908

No problem with the, with the leap

years now that we've gotten Wow.

:

00:52:16,968 --> 00:52:17,508

Through them.

:

00:52:17,718 --> 00:52:18,048

Yeah.

:

00:52:18,108 --> 00:52:18,498

Okay.

:

00:52:18,498 --> 00:52:19,188

That makes sense.

:

00:52:19,488 --> 00:52:19,908

Okay.

:

00:52:20,238 --> 00:52:25,218

4 0 4 Day Friday, April 4th,

Piedmont Park, 12 to nine.

:

00:52:25,338 --> 00:52:25,608

Yes.

:

00:52:25,848 --> 00:52:29,088

Various after parties and fun

Delights with Kilo, Ellie.

:

00:52:29,178 --> 00:52:29,478

Yes.

:

00:52:29,958 --> 00:52:30,918

, anything else people should know?

:

00:52:30,918 --> 00:52:31,098

We can.

:

00:52:31,338 --> 00:52:34,428

I'll link the website where

people can, do they need tickets?

:

00:52:34,953 --> 00:52:36,603

You can RSVP for free.

:

00:52:36,633 --> 00:52:41,423

It helps us, , plan accordingly with

things like porta-potties and security.

:

00:52:41,573 --> 00:52:41,663

Mm-hmm.

:

00:52:41,863 --> 00:52:47,113

, there are VIP tickets that get

you access to some swankier areas.

:

00:52:47,113 --> 00:52:50,023

We rented the Graystone building

this year, which has this back

:

00:52:50,023 --> 00:52:54,463

patio that overlooks a swimming

pool and a lake is really pretty.

:

00:52:54,463 --> 00:52:57,043

We'll have a DJ out there

that'll be a VIP area.

:

00:52:57,373 --> 00:52:57,493

Nice.

:

00:52:57,543 --> 00:53:01,173

. . I'd say the message to

everyone is 4 0 4 week.

:

00:53:01,173 --> 00:53:05,463

We want it to be kind of like a South

by Southwest, a three C Winter music

:

00:53:05,463 --> 00:53:12,543

conference, but of Atlanta, where

it's just all Atlanta acts businesses.

:

00:53:12,543 --> 00:53:16,263

All Atlanta people for a week, and

we encourage the world to visit here.

:

00:53:16,293 --> 00:53:18,093

The week of four.

:

00:53:18,093 --> 00:53:20,273

Oh four week jump on Delta.

:

00:53:20,543 --> 00:53:22,373

Have a Coke, have a sweet water.

:

00:53:22,923 --> 00:53:23,793

Come on down.

:

00:53:23,853 --> 00:53:26,973

You know, hopefully we'll have two

chains and Killer Mike and, and

:

00:53:26,973 --> 00:53:31,473

Gucci on in the next few years as

we kind of grow into these weekends.

:

00:53:31,473 --> 00:53:33,903

And I'm sure after they hear

this podcast they'll be ready.

:

00:53:33,963 --> 00:53:34,173

Yeah.

:

00:53:34,173 --> 00:53:35,133

They're just gonna sign right up.

:

00:53:35,138 --> 00:53:35,358

Yeah.

:

00:53:35,628 --> 00:53:35,918

Cool.

:

00:53:36,028 --> 00:53:36,718

This was the barrier.

:

00:53:37,083 --> 00:53:37,353

Yeah.

:

00:53:37,353 --> 00:53:37,773

Yeah.

:

00:53:38,013 --> 00:53:39,753

The, the podcast I've been waiting for.

:

00:53:40,353 --> 00:53:40,443

Yes.

:

00:53:40,533 --> 00:53:41,193

You're welcome.

:

00:53:41,433 --> 00:53:41,853

Thank you.

:

00:53:42,003 --> 00:53:43,113

Thank you for this opportunity.

:

00:53:43,653 --> 00:53:47,163

But, but yeah, we want to expand and

I encourage everyone to reach out.

:

00:53:47,163 --> 00:53:50,913

We've got, , emails, 4 0

4 day vendors@gmail.com.

:

00:53:50,913 --> 00:53:51,633

4 0 4 day.

:

00:53:51,813 --> 00:53:53,433

artist@gmail.com.

:

00:53:53,583 --> 00:53:56,523

4 0 4 day volunteers@gmail.com.

:

00:53:56,523 --> 00:53:58,503

So we'd love to hear from all of you.

:

00:53:58,503 --> 00:54:02,103

There's plenty of room to get involved

and I love to hear creative ideas.

:

00:54:02,103 --> 00:54:06,243

If people have an idea for a, an

artist or a whole showcase or a,

:

00:54:06,693 --> 00:54:08,308

a whole week long, you know, I'm.

:

00:54:09,078 --> 00:54:10,518

I'm trying to be available for it all.

:

00:54:10,818 --> 00:54:11,418

That's awesome.

:

00:54:11,898 --> 00:54:12,678

All right, cool.

:

00:54:12,888 --> 00:54:15,138

Well, Ricky, thank you

again for your time.

:

00:54:15,198 --> 00:54:16,878

This has been a delight.

:

00:54:17,238 --> 00:54:20,178

If you're listening, I hope you

learn some fun facts about Atlanta

:

00:54:20,178 --> 00:54:21,858

and that we'll see you at 4 0 4 day.

:

00:54:22,128 --> 00:54:26,358

As always, Clover Club listeners,

get 10% off@hawkinsonclover.com

:

00:54:26,388 --> 00:54:30,408

with promo code, Clover Club,

:

00:54:30,408 --> 00:54:32,028
